Detective Thinking - Coping with Anxiety Part 2

Anxiety is started and intensified through uncontrolled thoughts, most of which are not realistic or highly exaggerated. In order to quiet and reduce anxiety it is important to get our thought patterns under control. Therefore it is very important to spend time working through detective or realistic thinking about triggers and areas of anxiety which you commonly experience.



For example, Your child has an anxiety about being late to school. Why does your child have this anxiety? What happens when they are late to school? How do they feel when they are late to school?


Once you have determined the causes of the anxiety, you can discuss the likely outcomes of their fears happening. This discussion can help reduce the fear associated with this concern or allow you to give him some solutions or strategies to deal with consequences or outcomes To be continued (not finished)
